Family Puppet Theatre Mr. Fox, You’re Special was first produced in BAHASA MALAYSIA entitled Sang Musang Yang Fantastik on 13th December 2003 at the Children’s Theatre of the National Library, Kuala Lumpur. The play was first adapted by Roselina Khir Johari, senior lecturer of the University of Malaya. With its 10-year anniversary, Dr. Loy Chee Luen as director, puppet maker and founder of PuppetKu’s Theatre will be staging the famous Mr. Fox, You’re Special with a brand new cast and performance elements – a play within a play entitled “Mm…I’m Special”.
PuppetKu’s theatre’s “Mm…I’m Special” had performed in the HARMONY Art and Puppet Festival 2014 at Amphawa, Thailand as the representative of Malaysia. The play was invited to perform in the 21st UNIMA Congress & World Puppetry Festival 2012 at Chengdu, China.
Synopsis
Mr. Fox is a witty animal who often steals food from three farmers so he can feed his family. To capture the fox, Farmers Mr. Boggis, Mr. Bunce and Mr. Bean begin digging holes in the ground to create a trap. However, with the help of his family and friends, Mr. Fox manages to outsmart the farmers in a variety of comic ways.
The play merges a contemporary style of puppetry with a combination of puppets and humans in the show. Filled with humour and packed with action, this is a lovely theatre experience to be enjoyed by children and families aged 4 and above.
