Course Introduction:
The theatre director guides the actors, paints the stage layout, and devises the director’s plan. However, what you won’t find in the drama director’s tutorials and books is how to handle the directorial techniques. Yes, these are the exclusive formulas that no director can easily share, distilled from the essence of rehearsals by experienced directors. As a director, are you following the stage cues in the script for rehearsals? Anyone can become a director by following cues in the script. Why is it that the same script, under different directors, produces completely different stage effects? The answer lies in the mastery of directorial techniques! Without directorial techniques, your performance will remain ordinary. This is a completely new workshop experience for you. The theoretical part of the class is summed up in one sentence, but participants will be “competing in creative rehearsal” throughout, using their skills to win the directorial creative secrets accumulated by the instructor over the years. The length of the class will also be determined by the participants. Maybe it will take 4 hours to conquer all the secrets, or maybe 8 hours will be futile. Whether participants can obtain all the secrets or collaborate to create new directorial techniques, everything happens in the classroom.
